This original painting by Br. Jeremy Kuehn ’13 showcases Minneapolis’ very own Target Field – home of the Minnesota Twins. The outdoor stadium opened in 2010, replacing the team’s former field at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Lauded by fans as a beautiful new addition to the city of Minneapolis, it serves as the perfect place to spend a day enjoying food, fresh air and America’s favorite pasttime with family and friends.
As depicted in Kuehn’s imagery, fans seated along the third baseline will also enjoy a spectacular view of the city’s notable skyline peeking above the stands. As the sun sets during late games and illuminates the gleaming sides of the skyscrapers, one can’t help but appreciate the urban aesthetic of the city. Kuehn manages to capture the overwhelming majestic scale of the stadium from the point of view of a Twins fan seated in the upper deck.
Jeremy Kuehn, a graduate of Park High School in Cottage Grove, MN, is an art student at the University of MN with an emphasis in painting. He is also looking to expand his artistic skills through various media in hopes of becoming an asset in the job market. Throughout the painting’s creation, the artist was kind enough to share images of it in its various stages from start to finish via facebook posts – a unique, yet highly appreciated decision. Being able to witness the evolution from blank canvas to one of the nation’s most beautiful baseball stadiums had people posting their praises for his work. Kuehn was commissioned by Br. Steve Ehrfurth ’06 to paint the stadium as Ehrfurth is a frequent visitor to Target Field. Ehrfurth has purchased the painting and will proudly display the work in his home.
Congratulations to Jeremy on a job well done. The piece is a remarkable tribute to a landmark that will bring Minnesotans together for years to come.
