I know. It’s been awhile since our last update. Sorry about that. But we’re here now. Gazing into each others’ eyes and pondering…what we’re going to eat for dinner or something. Anyway…
As we await the completion of the chapter house’s brand new kitchen (yes, our kitchen is being completely renovated and upgraded), I’d like to take a moment and thank our brothers who have contributed content to our chapter’s award-winning website.
It’s not always on everyone’s minds to sit and write a piece centered around a fraternity theme, especially in their free time. But in the past year or two, we have had some remarkable stories written by some of our alumni that help to keep others informed of the chapter’s activities as well as what is happening in the personal and professional lives of our alumni. Some have written introspective pieces that reflect on what is to be a part of this organization – the trials and rewards – and some have offered sage advice to the classes that come after us. Brothers write pieces touting the achievements of their fellow members and memorializing those we have lost. From time to time, a humorous anecdote makes its way into the jabber jungle and exists only to make us laugh.
As a literary organization, it’s a goal of ours to maintain and cultivate the ability to express ourselves via the written word. We do value eloquence and a firm grasp of proper grammatical concepts, but it’s understood that what’s more important lies beyond the technique; it’s the message being put forth. The words shared by our brothers deserve recognition as much as the events they describe.
While they may not reach a wide number of eyes, I hope that those that do find them see what we’re trying to do here. We are shaping the face of Alpha Delta Phi and hopefully, reassuring people that our organization is one worth getting to know. Reminding people that we are worth revisiting and reforging connections.
Thank you to the brothers that have stepped forward and shared with us thus far. This is only the beginning. I hope you will continue to share your words with us, keep memories alive and strengthen our bonds.
