Jen (On Instagram: @fraternitychef) is one ballin' chef

Big thank you to Jen (Instagram @fraternitychef), the Washington Chapter house chef, for visiting Alpha Delta Phi – Minnesota Chapter to cook dinner for us while she was on vacation!

She made us an offer we couldn’t refuse
In a gesture of extreme kindness and generosity, the Washington Chapter chef, Jen, offered to cook dinner for the Minnesota Chapter during her recent visit to Minneapolis. Jen had been canoeing the Mississippi River earlier and spotted the MN chapter house on her way through campus. She and her son, R.J., purchased supplies and created an incredible chicken dinner for the actives, associates, and alumni.

Feeding a small army
When asked if she was up to the task of feeding 30 people on her own, Jen replied that she was used to making 3 meals a day for 3 times that many – easily. With numbers like that consisting of hungry college men, one might speculate she’d be serving up giant pots of boxed mac and cheese or boiling 200 hot dogs at a time, but she’s no camp cook.

Chopping, baking, and bonding
Jen’s meals are special, with the mouth-watering quality you’d savor at a fancy banquet or restaurant. Sautéed shrimp, smoked salmon pasta, and New York strip steak are just some of the many tricks up her chef’s sleeve. She’ll even make brothers a special meal of their request for their birthday. Jen routinely enlists the help of the Washington brothers to create these meals and teaches them basic cooking skills as well as an appreciation for food and the culinary arts. In doing so, she gets to know each member very well and learns about what’s happening in their lives. In Jen’s kitchen, you’re family.

Our compliments to the chef
We at Minnesota were honored and grateful to have Jen share her skills, passion, and fellowship with us as well as her selfless generosity. She reminds us how important it is to use our own individual talents to give back. We look forward to visiting Jen in the future and hope she’ll come back to visit Minnesota so we can repay her kindness  by maybe taking her out for a fancy meal, as our cooking skills may leave something to be desired.

Thank you to Jen and R.J., and to our friends from the Washington Chapter for sharing your love of food and fraternity with our Minnesota brothers.
